The four-time world silver medallist urged the Jamaican athletes to avail themselves for media interviews, detailing what they are losing.
Jamaican legend Gregory Haughton has warned Shericka Jackson, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Kishane Thompson and Co from shying off the media as he highlighted the implications of such.
Jamaican athletes have limited their interactions with the media, stirring a conversation among the fans about what might be going on. The fans have raised concern, noting that it does feel like they are losing their connection and trust.
The four-time world silver medallist pointed out that they are losing a lot by ignoring the media as it is doing more than good. This is contrary to the American athletes who are more welcoming to the media, a great example being Noah Lyles who thrives in such a set-up.

'I was embarrassed to show my face' - American sprint legend Allyson Felix reveals the sorrow of missing gold in 2008
Allyson Felix has revealed the emotional turmoil of winning silver in the 2008 Olympics, feeling devastated and letting others down.
Haughton revealed that the mysterious nature has caused a lot of rumours to spread and the athletes do not even care to come out and clarify the misinformation. He added that they tend to miss a lot of opportunities since they are not branded well, leading to a poor public image.
“This is not a good thing and will affect them in the long run. When you look at these athletes who are hiding themselves and not engaging with the media, it damages their public image. It can take a negative impression when they alienate themselves from the fans,” Gregory Haughton said on his YouTube Channel.
“We also see that there are missed opportunities in terms of their branding because when we see athletes engage with their media, it builds their brands and boosts their marketability. It is unnecessary for them to snob the media, it builds a strange relationship between them and their fans. When they avoid the media, they will lose control of whatever is going on now and other people are creating a narrative that causes a lot of speculation.”

Stephen Francis sheds light on the rift between Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce & Elaine Thompson-Herah at MVP: 'It became too much'
Both Fraser-Pryce & Thompson-Herah were teammates for a long time at MVP under Stephen Francis' guidance, but their rise to becoming world class sprinters naturally created animosity between the two.
He speculated that their management or coaches might have something to do with the sudden silence, urging them to allow the athletes to interact with the media and update their fans on what is happening.
Since the Paris Olympic Games, Shericka Jackson has yet to give a solid update to her fans about her injury progress. On her part, Elaine Thompson-Herah remained silent during the speculation that she had found a new home in Florida.
Generally, Jamaican athletes have maintained a low profile this year and even as they gear up for 2025, no one knows what’s in the offing.
“Maybe it is not the athletes’ idea, it is those who are engineering the development of the athletes and it may be referenced to the coach or club and it may put a muzzle on athletes to express themselves. If you see an athlete hiding the way they are doing right now, issues are going on and display a lot of lack of confidence and insecurity. They feel like being silent is the way to go,” he said.
This season, Jamaicans have also not been in their top shape with some being forced to withdraw from the Paris Olympic Games due to injuries. They recorded the worst performance in the French capital after years of dominating the global stage.
