The Jamaican sprint legend has reportedly opted out of the 200m at the World Championships and will only compete in 100m and 4x100m relay.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will reportedly not compete in the 200m race at the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Fraser-Pryce was recently named in Jamaica's team to Budapest, where she was set to compete for gold on three fronts. It has now emerged that she has opted out of the slightly longer version of the sprints.

The 36-year-old finished second in the 200m national trials a couple of weeks back to book her spot.

She qualified alongside the defending champion, Shericka Jackson, who had a wild card already. The two were supposed to be joined by Natalliah Whyte and Kevona Davis.

However, according to Jamaican sports outlet, Nationwide Sports, Fraser-Pryce has reportedly informed her country's officials that she will not be going for the sprint double.

This leaves the reigning 100m champion to focus on winning a historic sixth world title. She headlines the team alongside world leader, Jackson, plus Shashalee Forbes and Natasha Morrison.

Surprisingly, multiple Olympic champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah, did not make either team but will partner Fraser-Pryce, Jackson, Forbes, Morrison, and Briana Williams in the 4x100m relay race.

The Jamaican team bagged silver in Oregon last year after a surprise rally from the United States.

In the 100m, apart from her formidable compatriot, Jackson, Fraser-Pryce will face competition from America's Sha'Carri Richardson, who has tilted heads this year, and Ivorian Marie Jose Ta Lou.
