Preview on Nigerian college athletes that will be competing at the BIG 12 Championships this weekend.

One of the most competitive NCAA Division I conference championships will hold this weekend, and Nigeria's best will be competing for titles and medals at the BIG 12 Championships.

Top on the list is Texas Tech University's Rosemary Chukwuma listed to compete in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m.

Chukwuma will be gunning for a medal upgrade from her sprint bronze medals last year, which will require her upsetting NCAA's best female sprinter at the moment Julien Alfred.

Her teammates Mercy Umoibang and Onaara Obamuwagun will line up in the 400m and triple jump respectively, while in the men's event, Best Erhire will compete in the high jump and triple jump.

Nigeria's trio of Ezekiel Nathaniel, Nnamdi Chinecherem, and Imaobong Uko will also target producing their best performances of the season at the championship.

Nathaniel is the reigning champion in the 400m Hurdles, which he will target retaining in an impressive time as well as in the 4x400m.

Chinecherem is also the reigning champion in his event, the Javelin Throw. The talented thrower will aim for a new season's best or smash his lifetime best, if he's to retain his title.

Uko will be gunning to run under the 51s mark in the 400m for the first time in her career, likewise in the 200m by going under the 23s mark. She is also scheduled to compete in the 4x100m and 4x400m.

Lastly, Emmanuel Ekong of Texas Christian University will race in the 100m and 200m.
