Double Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet still has more races to compete in before the 2024 season comes to an end.
Double Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet has yet to close her season despite achieving great milestones already as her coach Peter Bii revealed that there is one more race for her to go.
The 10,000m world record holder has already had a record-breaking season, making history almost all the time she stepped on the track. She started her season with the 5km world record before defending her World Cross-country title in Belgrade, Serbia.
Chebet did not rest on her laurels as she proceeded to claim top honours at the Prefontaine Classic, clocking a new world record time before her double victory in the 5000m and 10,000m at the Paris Olympic Games. The world 5000m bronze medallist threatened the 5000m world record at the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich before claiming the Diamond trophy in the final of the Diamond League in Brussels.

World Athlete of the Year: Why Beatrice Chebet deserves it ahead of Gabby Thomas & Co
After the conclusion of the 2024 track and field campaign, attention will shift to end of season accolades and there are a number of reasons why Beatrice Chebet should be crowned.
Despite having accomplished most of her targets, Chebet has more races to compete in before closing her 2024 but her coach explained that the focus now shifts to the road races and the cross country. In an interview with Pulse Sports Kenya, Bii was quick to note that the main priority is to ensure Chebet has some rest before embarking on the second chapter of her season.
“For track and field, Brussels was the last race of the season but now we have some road races and cross country coming up and we shall be able to see what is possible but still being able to see that she recovers,” Bii said.
Meanwhile, next season, Chebet hopes to extend her hot streak to the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. The 24-year-old has yet to win a gold medal at the World Championships and next season will be a perfect opportunity for her to actualise her dreams.
