Gabby Thomas’ boyfriend revealed her high spirits before the Paris Olympic 200m final, where she seized gold in the absence of rival Shericka Jackson.
Gabby Thomas might have insisted that Shericka Jackson’s absence from the 200m at the Paris Olympic Games had no effect on her but her boyfriend Spencer McManes has spilled the tea.
On the morning of the final, McManes disclosed that Gabby Thomas woke up feeling happier than usual and he sensed that since the world 200m champion was not in the mix, she had little pressure going into the race.
McManes disclosed that previously, Gabby Thomas had been anxious but with the absence of her arch-rival, she woke up in high spirits and deep down, knew she would take the top prize home.

Paris 2024 Olympics: Gabby Thomas insists Shericka Jackson's absence from women's 200m did not ease the pressure
Gabby Thomas has explained why Shericka Jackson's withdrawal from the women's 200m final did not make it easy for her to win the race.
Her only other greatest threat in the race was Julien Alfred who was fresh from winning the 100m Olympic title and was looking to continue her winning ways with the much-needed confidence.
However, Alfred has constantly spoke about her dislike for the 200m and that was a consolation for Gabby Thomas whose strength is in the 200m.
In the final, Gabby Thomas emerged champion over Julien Alfred and Brittany Brown who finished second and third respectively.
She made history to become the first woman to win an Olympic gold in the 200m since Allyson Felix who did it at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Elaine Thompson-Herah claimed the 200m gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
“She needed some air-conditioning. It was just so intense. I wouldn't say it was anxiety. It was more like excitement, weight. You feel the weight of it,” McManes said as per Time.

Noah Lyles' fiancée Junelle Bromfield has reflected on something she will never fully move past.
Gabby Thomas’ coach Tonja Buford-Bailey was confident in her abilities and 80m into the race, he revealed that she had already won.
“What makes her special, I love having an athlete that just doesn't take this too seriously and is just able to keep herself calm. We were just laughing it up in the warm-up area right before,” Buford-Bailey said.
