Letsile Tebogo strolls to victory in the 200m of the Monaco Diamond League on his return to action for the first time since his mother's unfortunate death.

Botswana’s sprint sensation Letsile Tebogo strolled to victory in the 200m at the Monaco Diamond League Classic, marking a triumphant return to competitive action and stepping up his Olympic preparations.

Tebogo, who had not competed in over two months due to the unfortunate passing of his mother, controlled the race throughout. He started well, executed his dry phase efficiently, and approached the curve with the right momentum.

Running head-to-head with Dominican Republic’s Alexander Ogando, Tebogo maintained his composure and surged ahead in the final 30 meters to secure a 19.87 win.

Ogando finished in second place, while Uganda’s Gracious Orogot settled for third with a time of 20.32.

The Monaco meeting is the penultimate event in the Diamond League series before the Olympic Games. The final meeting is scheduled for July 20 in London, where top athletes will compete one last time before the Olympics.

Tebogo aims to extend his impressive form to the London meeting as part of his build-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
