The Diamond League Meeting in Monaco will take place on Friday night and here are three exciting clashes fans should be looking forward to.

The Diamond League Meeting in Monaco comes up on Friday night, July 12, having attracted star studded fields with the likes of Olympic champion Karsten Warholm, world 100m silver medallist Letsile Tebogo and World champion Marco Arop.

All the athletes lining up for the event will be out to test their bodies ahead of the Paris Olympic Games which is less than a month away.

There are three match ups that all track and field fans will be looking to witness, hoping that records will fall and new personal best times set.

Three clashes expected as the Diamond League heads to Monaco

Men’s 200m: Letsile Tebogo vs Andrew Hudson

Letsile Tebogo finished second behind Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in the 100m at the Gyulai István Memorial, a Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix. He now faces off against another Jamaican, Andrew Hudson, in the 200m, with the hope of having a great bounce back.

Both athletes will be in action at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with Hudson only competing in the 200m and he will be out to work on his craft ahead of facing off against the world’s best.

He has been in great shape this season, finishing second at the Jamaican Olympic trials and his recent second-place finish in Hungary.

Tebogo has also been in great shape, however, he had to take a break after a crisis struck him but he is slowly getting back to the groove. The men’s 200m will prove to be an exciting affair as the duo descends on the start line for the race.

Men’s 400m Hurdles: Karsten Warholm vs Rai Benjamin vs Alison Dos Santos

The top three fastest men in the world this season and Olympic medallists will renew their rivalry at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco. Warholm, the Olympic champion, goes up against Rai Benjamin and Alison Dos Santos.

At the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Warholm took the title home, clocking a stunning world record as Benjamin and Dos Santos came in second and third respectively and as they head to Paris, the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco will be one to watch.

The Brazilian has been in formidable condition, beating Warholm on home soil at the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo and he hopes to continue the momentum but will the American stop him.

Men’s 800m: Djamel Sedjati vs Marco Arop

Djamel Sedjati, the world leader, has been in great shape this season as he threatened David Rudisha’s world record at the Diamond League Meeting in Paris. The Algerian clocked the third fastest time in the world in the 800m behind Rudisha’s world record and Wilson Kipketer’s time.

He now goes to Monaco with the hope of continuing the winning streak but faces a stern test from reigning world champion Marco Arop.

Arop has been unbeaten this season and has raced sparingly, meaning he has the energy to stun the crowd at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco. Can David Rudisha’s world record fall as th duo clashes?
