Funmilayo Fameso 12:05 - 17.06.2023

He calls himself the "fastest Chartered Accountant" in the world. Meet British sprinter, Eugene Amo-Dadzie.

When Eugene Amo-Dadzie started sprinting four years ago as a 26-year-old, little did he know he will end up becoming one of Europe's and the World's fastest men in history.

Born of Ghanaian origin but representing Great Britain, Amo-Dadzie blazed to a blistering Personal Best (PB) of 9.93s (0.1) to win the men's 100m at the Horst Mandl Memorial in Graz. In second place was Nigeria's Seye Ogunlewe also clocking a massive PB of 10.04s.

The time is the fastest in Europe this year, the fourth fastest in British history, and currently No.13 on the top list this season.

Noteworthy is that the 30-year-old is a Chartered Accountant by profession with over nine years experience as a finance and accounting professional across both industry and practice. He only officially started sprinting in 2019, and calls himself "the fastest accountant in the world".

In February 2023, he was 60m bronze medallist at the 2023 British National Indoor Championships, which earned him his first team selection to the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, where he got to the semifinals.

  • 2021 - 10.20s (finished second at the 2021 England national championships in Bedford)
2022 - 10.05s (In August 2022, he clocked this time in Stratford. It placed him third-fastest by a British sprinter in 2022)
  • 2023 - 9.93s

Now the joint fourth-fastest British man of all time with Reece Prescod, Amo-Dadzie is a British title contender and medal challenger at the World Championships in Budapest.
