Mary Moraa's cousin will be looking to make amends at the World U20 Championships after after failing to meet the Olympic qualifying time.

Mary Moraa’s cousin, Sarah Moraa is aiming for a strong comeback as she heads to the World Under-20 Championships in Peru, Lima from August 27 to 31.

Sarah was hoping to make the Olympic team but missed out on the required time for the women’s 800m. At the Kenyan Olympic trials, the youngster finished second behind Mary Moraa and Lilian Odira who booked their slots at the Olympic Games in the French capital.

She shifted her focus to the World Under-20 Championships trials where she won the 800m and punched her ticket to the global showpiece. In an interview, the youngster explained that she is charged for the event, especially after missing the Olympic Games.

She disclosed that the energy she would have used at the Paris Olympic Games is what she will transfer to the Under-20 Championships.

“I was not happy after missing the Olympic Games because my aim was to make the Kenyan Olympic team but I didn’t manage to attain the qualification time. At the moment, I am well prepared and I will transfer the energy that I would take to the Olympic Games to Peru,” Sarah shared.

She added that Moraa winning a bronze at the Paris Olympic Games is motivation enough for her to get a medal in Lima.

However, she is not under the pump to deliver, explaining that Moraa did not start off her career in winning ways but had to build herself and go through phases in order to emerge victorious.

“I want to come back home with something good. I don’t have a lot of pressure because when I look at Mary (Moraa) at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, she didn’t even get to the finals. However, this time around she got to the finals and won a medal. I am motivated to go to Peru and I believe I will medal,” she added.
