Reigning world 800m champion Mary Moraa has shattered the 600m world record, clocking a blistering 1:21.63 to win the race at the ISTAF Berlin.
She obliterated the previous world record time of 1:21.77 set by South Africa's Caster Semenya back in 2017 in Berlin, Germany. At the beginning of the season, Moraa had expressed interest in shattering the world record and she has finally achieved the feat.
“I will go for the 600m where I will attack the world record…I don’t know where I’ll compete exactly but I’m going for the record,” Moraa said at the time.

Kisii Express then proceeded to the women’s 800m at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar where she dominated before finishing second in the 400m USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix.
The Commonwealth Games champion was beaten to second in the women’s 800m by Briton Keely Hodgkinson at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene. She finished third in the women’s 800m at the Kenyan Olympic trials before claiming the bronze medal at the Olympic Games.
Hodgkinson and Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma finished first and second respectively in the hotly contested race.
She healed her Olympic heartbreak with a win at the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne before finishing third at the Diamond League Meeting in Silesia, competing in the 1000m.
