Commonwealth Games 800m champion Mary Moraa faces a stern test in her quest to reign supreme in the women’s 800m race at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Moraa will first set her foot on the track on Wednesday, August 23, for the 800m heats with the hope of making a statement until the final. She has since let God take over, noting that she has done her best in training.
The 23-year-old will be up against some of her formidable opponents including world leader Keely Hodgkinson and defending champion Athing Mu.
However, she remains unfazed, and in a post on her Facebook page, Moraa said: “Have done my best in camp and I now leave the rest to the Almighty God. Thanks, everyone for your support and prayers. Much love.”
The 2019 African U20 800m champion has been in great shape and so far, this season, she has been unbeaten in the two-lap race. Opening her season at the Kip Keino Classic, Moraa stunned the masses to take the win in 1:58.83.
She then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco where she reigned supreme then jetted into the country for the National Championships where she also carried the day.
