The women’s 800m field has attracted a huge chunk of athletes who failed to make an impact on the Olympic stage and will be looking for a bounce back in Lausanne, just like Moraa.
Jamaica’s Natoya Goule-Toppin will be in the mix after failing to make it to the women’s 800m final at the Paris Olympic Games. The Jamaican finished sixth in the semifinal and missed a slot in the final.
The Jamaican Athletics Association filed an appeal for her to be included in the final, citing obstruction from other athletes but their appeal was rejected. She heads to Lausanne with high hopes of making an impact after the setback.
Another athlete out to challenge Moraa will be Uganda’s Halimah Nakaayi who failed to impress on the Olympic stage. The 2019 world champion finished fourth in the first round of the women’s race. She tried her luck in the repechage round but could only afford a sixth-place finish to miss a slot in the semis.
Scottish runner Jemma Reekie heads to the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne hoping to make an impression after a shocking exit from the Olympic stage. Reekie, a huge favourite to finish in the podium bracket was eliminated in the semifinal of the race after finishing fifth.
The American duo of Nia Akins and Allie Wilson will also be out to contest for the top spots in the race.
