Kisii Express was in a class of her own as she executed a great strategy to reclaim the Diamond League Trophy in Brussels on Friday.

Mary Moraa danced away with the Diamond League Trophy and ksh3.9 million after running a tactical race to claim victory at the season finale in Brussels.

Having opted not to take the lead from the off, Moraa stormed off in the final lap to win her first Diamond League trophy in a season’s best 1:56.56, ahead of Georgia Bell of Great Britain, who nearly spoilt her party but had to settle for second place in 1:57.50.

Jamaican Goule-Toppin Natoya completed the podium in 1:58.94.

Moraa headed to Brussels as the woman to beat after winning three out of her four previous Diamond League races, with her only defeat being second place.

‘Kisii Express’ was keen to end the season in fine fashion and did it as she made it four wins, three after the Olympics, following victories in Lausanne, Zurich and now Brussels.

Moraa had won in Doha before finishing second in Eugene, when Olympics champion Keely Hodgkinson, floored her as she settled for second.

Hodgkinson would run a dominant race to win Olympics gold as Moraa settled for third place for bronze medal behind Ethiopian Tsige Duguma.

But with injured Hodgkinson out of Brussels, same as and Duguma, the stage was left for the world champion and she did not disappoint, claiming her first Diamond League title.
