Moraa, a Administration Police officer, has expressed delight after being honoured by the acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli for her recent Olympics and Diamond League heroics.

Olympic and Diamond League champion Mary Moraa has expressed her delight after being honored by Acting Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli at a ceremony held on Tuesday morning at the Police Pavilion in South C.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements of National Police Service (NPS) athletes in the recently concluded Olympics and Diamond League events.

Moraa, who secured her third Diamond League title in Brussels last week, was one of the standout athletes recognized during the brief ceremony.

The 800m world champion received the prestigious Diamond Trophy, marking a successful end to her season. She was accompanied by Cpl. Beatrice Chebet, who also had a stellar performance in Brussels by winning the 5,000m event and closing the season on a high note.

The event, presided over by Inspector General Masengeli, aimed to acknowledge the incredible performances of NPS athletes on the global stage.

"The National Police Service remains committed to fostering excellence in sports and achieving the highest standards of performance for all our athletes," Masengeli said during his address.

He was joined by Deputy IG-KPS Eliud Lagat, Director DCI Mohamed Amin, and other senior officers, including Directors from the Kenya Prisons Service.

Moraa, who took to Facebook after the ceremony, expressed her gratitude for the recognition and shared her excitement about the honor. "It can never get better than this," Moraa captioned.

"When the boss says yes, nobody can say no! Thank you for the great honor, Sir!"

The reigning 800m world champion has had a remarkable season, and her third Diamond League victory further solidified her dominance in the sport. Moraa's achievements have not only elevated her status in athletics but have also brought immense pride to the National Police Service, where she serves as a corporal.

Cpl. Beatrice Chebet, also a celebrated athlete within the NPS, was lauded for her performance. Chebet, the world record holder in the 10,000m, secured a memorable victory in Brussels, capping off a highly successful season.
