Mary Moraa's partner Richard Lagat has heaped praise on the reigning world 800m champion, lauding her hard work and dedication this season that have earned her great honours.
Mary Moraa’s partner Richard Lagat has expressed pride towards the former’s exploits this season where she bagged the Diamond League final trophy and the Olympic bronze medallist.
On top of her two honours, Moraa also shattered Caster Semenya’s 600m world best at the ISTAF 2024 in Berlin. She also won the Diamond League Meetings in Doha, Lausanne, and the final in Brussels.
The reigning world 800m champion also claimed top honours at the Kip Keino Classic and the 400m at the African Games on top of other milestones she made. Following her impressive performance, Lagat has lauded her efforts, noting that she is an exceptional athlete who has managed to stay injury-free throughout the long season.

“I want to appreciate her because it is not that easy for somebody like her and other athletes to manage to the end of the season without an injury. It is all by the grace of God first and then by the hard you put in it leads to success and success does not come easy,” Lagat said.

“I want to say that Mary has been dedicated, she has been focused for the season and it was just unfortunate that she missed the Olympics but now she has portrayed the same by winning the major Diamond League, that’s the final Diamond League and some other Diamond Leagues.”
Lagat added that this is just the beginning for Moraa who has already started making a name for herself in the 800m with her record-breaking performance. He explained that she is destined for greatness and will be out to win more medals for the country as long as she is healthy. “I believe, by the grace of God, she is going to prosper and will bring more medals home,” Lagat said.
