Luke Kiprop and Naomi Chepkorir defied the foggy weather to clinch top honours at the Iten International Marathon.

Luke Kiprop and Naomi Chepkorir stamped authority to clinch top honours at Sunday’s Iten International Marathon.

In the foggy weather, more than 10 men lined up at the starting line of the marathon in Chororget with the hope of reigning supreme but it was Kiprop who was the lucky man.

Kiprop was in the leading pack for the better part of the race and decided to open a huge gap with about 15km to go. He looked very comfortable as he went on to cut the tape first in a time of 2:13:19.

Charles Kimeli followed closely as he clocked 2:14:26 as Edwin Yator completed the podium in a time of 2:14:46.

The women’s race saw Chepkorir clinch top honours in style after putting in the effort. She clocked 2:32:36 to cross the finish line first ahead of Lina Kaino who clocked 2:34:27 to finish second. Caroline Kimosop completed the podium after clocking 2:36:36.
