Justin Gatlin has revealed the special quality about Fred Kerley after the two sat down together for a tell-it-all conversation.
In another tweet, he shared how the beginning of something does not determine where one will go but it’s the effort that is put in the journey that determines the outcome of everything, noting that he will always rise above the limits.
“Lost my soul a few times this year. Still standing stronger than ever. You can’t stop God blessing,” Fred Kerley shared.
He added: “It’s not about where you start, it’s about how far you’re willing to go. 🌟 #RiseAbove.”
Meanwhile, this season has been a mixed one for Fred Kerley who parted ways with his sponsor, Asics, just before the US Olympic trials. The American sprint king had just signed with the new sponsors in February 2023 after his contract with Nike expired at the end of 2022.
As reported by Citius Mag, Fred Kerley explained that he had left his bag at the airport hence the decision to run in different spikes leading up to him parting ways with Asics. "I ain’t switch it up. I left my bag at the airport,” Fred Kerley said at the time.
However, he did not end his season there and went on to compete at the US Olympic trials where he intended to double in the 100m and 200m but after securing an Olympic slot in the hotly contested 100m he chose not to race in the 200m. Kerley finished third behind Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek.

At the Olympic Games, Fred Kerley went into the men’s 100m as an underdog but defied all odds to claim a bronze medal. He finished third behind Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson.
The 29-year-old then went on to finish third in the men’s 200m at the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne and won the men’s 100m in Silesia. In Rome, he finished third in the men’s 100m as Letsile Tebogo claimed the win.
Fred Kerley proceeded to finish fourth in the men’s 200m in Zurich before finishing third and fifth in the men’s 100m and 200m respectively at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.
