Just at 21, World Athletics saw him fit to be a role model to the young generation using his platform to encourage youngsters to embrace athletics for fun, fitness and personal growth.

The world 100m silver medallist expressed excitement to have been given the rare opportunity, revealing that track and field has opened so many doors for him.

“Athletics has given me so many opportunities, and I want to inspire young people to believe in themselves, dream big and enjoy the sport,” Letsile Tebogo said.

“The Kids’ Athletics programme is about making athletics accessible and fun, and I am honoured to be part of this initiative to help develop future champions, on and off the track.”

Speaking at the same time, World Athletics president Seb Coe noted that it was exciting to see Letsile Tebogo break the barriers in 2024.

He explained that Letsile Tebogo’s breakthrough is a great example to other young kids dreaming of doing the impossible one day.

“I am always delighted when a talent like Letsile Tebogo emerges through our competition structures. It shows other young talented athletes the pathway,” Seb Coe said.

“Letsile is confident, determined and humble and is already inspiring a whole generation of young potential athletes and children as they learn to make sport part of every day. This is why I am so pleased Letsile has agreed to be an ambassador for Kids’ Athletics.”

The collaboration will see Letsile Tebogo take part in the Relay Around the World Challenge ahead of the 2025 Kids’ Athletics Day set to take place on May 7, 2025.

The 2025 theme of the Kids’ Athletics Day is inspired by the upcoming World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China.

World Athletics revealed that more information concerning the same will be released when the campaign launches on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
