Olympics 200m champion Letsile Tebogo is still not happy with his game despite his impressive season and wants to make a number of improvements before the Diamond League Final.
Olympics 200m champion Letsile Tebogo feels his win at the Zurich Diamond League exposed certain flaws to his game which he still needs to work on ahead of the final.
Tebogo had to come from behind to secure a victory in Zurich, having come off the blocks slowly and also not running well at the bend.
The 21-year-old won closely after beating Americans Kenny Bednarek and Erriyon Knighton to second and third places respectively.
Tebogo clocked 19.55 as Bednarek managed 19.57 while Knighton timed 19.79 and after winning three straight Diamond League races in 200m, he is still not happy and wants to correct a few things before the final slated for September 13 and 14 in Brussels.
“That was one of the worst executions I have done in a race,” Tebogo told Inside Lane in reference to his win in Zurich.
“Looking at what I did on that bend and coming from the back and pushing into the line, it showed that I need to go back to the drawing board because I am convinced, I still need to work on that curve, I still need to work on a lot of stuff.”
Tebogo is, however, happy that he has regained his confidence after losing plenty of it in May following the death of his mother.
“It has been to get the confidence back into the body,” added the sprinter.
“With the tragedy that happened, I lost a lot of confidence into the sport so the more I win the race, the more I become confident going into next season with the World Championships so that I can face the guys with confidence.”
Tebogo will be looking to stamp his authority at the final with $30,000 and the Diamond League Trophy at stake.
