Arsenal start their Premier League season at home for the first time in five years and Mike Arteta is hoping for another positive beginning as he eyes the title
During last year’s edition, the winners were not paid in good time, causing an uproar but with sponsors coming in, it’s a huge relief for event organisers since they will pay winners in good time.
The coming of the sponsors will also see the top 20 finishers being awarded prize money, yet to be unveiled.
Race director Moses Tanui said: “The prize money for this year will be the same as last year where the winner will receive Sh3.5 million. We will also reward the top 20 athletes in both men's and women's categories."
"Apart from the cash prize, there will be other prizes to be won by the athletes with the first 50 to cross the finish line receiving a blanket each."
He revealed that the new sponsors are set to establish a long-term partnership with the Eldoret City Marathon.
Registration for the marathon is ongoing for Sh1,500 and plans to invite international athletes to the race are underway.
