Kishane Thompson has revealed why he has not found it necessary to rewatch his 100m final performance at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics alot, further revealing next targets following the tournament.

Jamaican  sprint sensation Kishane Thompson made headlines after his stellar performance in the 100m final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he clinched a silver medal. In a race that will be remembered for its intensity and tight finish,

Thompson clocked the same time as the gold medalist, triple world champion Noah Lyles, with only microseconds separating the two. Fred Kerley of the United States took bronze with a time of 9.81 seconds.

Despite the high stakes and excitement surrounding the race, Thompson revealed that he hasn’t felt the need to rewatch the epic final multiple times.

“I would not say a couple of times but I have seen it. I am actually that good in the race that I can actually fix my mistakes, so I don’t have to watch it a lot of times,” Thompson shared with Citius Mag.

The Paris Olympics have been challenging for Jamaican sprinters, with injuries sidelining key athletes like Shericka Jackson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Elaine Thompson Herah.

The men’s relay team also faced disappointment, failing to qualify for the final. Yet, Thompson, competing in his first major international event, remains positive and reflective about his experience.

“It has been phenomenal. The whole aura, the vibe. Growing up watching the Olympics, I loved track and field and wanted to be in this moment, so it is a good feeling,” Thompson reflected. “I haven’t replied to everyone, but the love and support has been massive. Even before I medalled, it was phenomenal, so I am grateful.”

Thompson’s silver medal marks a significant milestone in his career, and the young sprinter is already setting his sights on future goals. He expressed admiration for Usain Bolt, the legendary Jamaican sprinter, whose legacy continues to inspire athletes around the world.

“Leading to this particular moment has been phenomenal. Usain Bolt has set the standards that we can push each other to achieve more, but it has been very good,” Thompson acknowledged. “So far, I would say I am just looking forward to finishing my season and going out with a bang.”

As he looks ahead, Thompson emphasized the importance of execution in achieving faster times on the track.

“To get faster results is a matter of me executing. I have been using that phrase for a while now and will maintain it because if I do not maneuver what I practiced and put it all together, it does not make sense if I think about fast times whatsoever. Those are extensions of the executions,” he explained.

With a silver medal from his Olympic debut and a promising career ahead, Kishane Thompson is poised to continue carrying the torch for Jamaican sprinting, striving to build on the legacy left by the greats who came before him.
