Sprint star Kishane Thompson received his special honour from the Jamaican Olympic Association for his Paris exploits.
Jamaica's new speed king Kishane Thompson has been recognised for his season's exploits despite losing the Olympic 100m gold to Noah Lyles in Paris.
The 23-year-old was one of the standout sprinters this year, having won the Jamaican 100m title and has the fastest time in the world with a brilliant 9.77s. He capped off his outstanding season at the Paris Olympic Games, where he narrowly lost the gold medal to Lyles, with both having the same time of 9.79s.
For his brilliant 2024 performances, especially for being a silver medallist in Paris, thus putting Jamaica back on the sprint podium since Usain Bolt's retirement, the Jamaican Olympic Association honoured Thompson at their annual national awards.
Thompson's rise to prominence this year has been a beacon of hope for Jamaica this year, as he is highly rated as the next sprint star to dominate the men's 100m, and his fierce rivalry with Lyles brews an anticipation of great races to expect in the next few years.
