Olympic 100m silver medallist Kishane Thompson returned to his high school to inspire students following his successful yet injury-challenged 2024 season, which included his Olympic debut.

Reigning Olympic 100m silver medallist Kishane Thompson was welcomed to his previous high school where he went to motivate young students to chase their dreams.

Following his dominant exploits at the Paris Olympic Games amid injury woes, the Jamaican wunderkind is now an inspiration to young athletes who are looking to make an impact in the world of sprinting when they grow up.

As he made a speech at the school, Kishane Thompson encouraged the students to always put in the work and through that, they will always achieve their goals.

“I can do all things if I believe and put in the work,” Kishane Thompson said in part.

In a video shared by Aujae Dixon, Thompson is treated to a warm reception in the school as he took photos and signed autographs. The 23-year-old was also taken on the school tour.

Dixon captioned the video: “The board of management, staff and students of Garvey Maceo High School celebrate with Kishane Thompson and wish him continued success. Today we welcomed him back to his alma mater to much fanfare and festivities. All the best Kishane, keep pushing!”

Meanwhile, Kishane Thompson has had a mixed 2024 season, starting from JAAA Olympic French Foray 1 where he failed to finish the race before winning the Jamaican Olympic trials. He clocked 9.77 seconds to close his season as the fastest man in the world in 2024.

The Jamaican sprint king then claimed top honours at the Gyulai István Memorial, a Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix before his impressive performance at the Paris Olympic Games where he finished second behind Noah Lyles in the men’s 100m final.

Thompson’s performance was impressive since the Olympic Games were just but his first global championship and he managed to put up a good show. He had been confirmed for a series of Diamond League Meetings but was forced to withdraw due to an injury.
