Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge issued a moving speech after being conferred with an honorary degree during the 41st graduation ceremony of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
Kipchoge was awarded the degree due to his exemplary efforts on and off the track which has seen him become a household name. His curious nature and habit of reading have also seen him being recognised by the institution.
In his acceptance speech, Kipchoge encouraged the youngsters to take pride in their education and maintain a great legacy for JKUAT.

Golazo Group CEO Bob Verbeeck has explained what Kelvin Kiptum has to do to maintain his longevity in the marathon.
“To the graduating class, education I believe is the most empowering tool we possess. They say many are schooled but few are educated. I trust that these 4700 graduands are educated,” he said.
He also congratulated the youngsters for their hard work and discipline which have paid off well. “I firmly believe that education, hard work, and above all discipline are the qualities that have enabled you to earn the certificates, Diplomas, and Degrees you are receiving today.
"These same virtues will propel you towards the greater success and fulfillment of life. I urge you to carry forward the legacy of this institution with pride and integrity wherever you go,” Kipchoge said.
He challenged the graduands to go and positively impact the masses, arguing that one person can change 10 people. He also appreciated the parents of the graduands for their sacrifice and unwavering support.
“It’s truly an honour to be here today on the occasion of the 41st graduation ceremony of this prestigious institution of higher learning.
"I extend my deepest gratitude to the chancellor, the vice-chancellor, the council, and the senate for bestowing upon me the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters,” Kipchoge started.
