The event has attracted Ferdinand Omanyala, Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce, and Sha'Carri Richardson among other stars.
The 2023 Kip Keino Classic scheduled for Saturday, May 13 at the Kasarani stadium has received a massive cash boon of Ksh60 million from Absa Bank.
The amount is set to cater majorly for the athlete’s prize money among other important expenses. During last year’s edition, Absa injected Ksh23 million to support the event which saw multiple world and Olympic champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce and Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala light up the stadium.
Omanyala and Fraser-Pryce are set to return to this year's edition which has attracted other stars such as Sha'Carri Richardson. As of Friday, May 5, 204 international athletes and 68 local athletes have confirmed participation.
Speaking during the pre-race press conference at the Safari Park Hotel, Athletics Kenya president Jack Tuwei lauded the efforts by Absa for their continuous support of the sport after also pumping in Ksh2 million for the Sikirwa Classic Cross-country.

He added that the event is eagerly anticipated, being one of the classiest in the world and that is why they chose to support it and watch it make great milestones.
