This comes after he pulled out of the just concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Former World Half Marathon world record holder Kibiwott Kandie has been confirmed for the Valencia Half Marathon scheduled for October 22.

This comes after he pulled out of the just concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary due to an injury but he seems to be back on track and ready to compete again.

He returns to the familiar course after bagging two titles and he also successfully broke the half marathon world record during his debut on the course. The record was broken by Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo at the Lisbon Half Marathon in 2021.

He won last year and he will be looking to successfully defend his title when he lines up against the strong field. His toughest opposition comes from Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha who has had a pretty amazing season thus far.

He finished fifth in the 5000m at the just concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary and he has won two 5000m races at the Diamond League Meetings in Oslo and Switzerland.

Kandie’s compatriot, Mathew Kimeli will also be competing and Ethiopia’s Tadese Worku will also be in action with the hope of bagging the top prize.

In the women’s field, Ethiopian-born German Melat Kejeta will be lining up as the fastest in the field. Kenya’s Margaret Chelimo will also be in action after an unsatisfactory exit from the World Championships.
