United States ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman was star-struck after meeting double world record holder Faith Kipyegon, who visited the US embassy.
Whitman shared the adorable photos of her and Kipyegon on her X (Twitter) handle. Kipyegon was in the company of her family, her husband Timothy Kitum, and daughter Alyn.

Faith Kipyegon has explained why breaking the 5000m world record remains to be a surprising occurrence to her, a feat that left her in tears.
She lauded Kipyegon for being a mentor to millions all over the world and expressed her excitement towards meeting Kipyegon.
She said: “Look who visited us today... An honor to meet a record-breaking athlete and her family. You are an inspiration to millions of women & girls worldwide!”
Meanwhile, Kipyegon has enjoyed a stellar track season with her world records over the 1500m, 5000m, and the mile.
All her three records were ratified but her 5000m record has since been broken by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay who put up a good fight to win the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final.
Kipyegon also won double gold, in the 1500m and 5000m, at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

At the Diamond League Meeting final, the 29-year-old successfully defended her 1500m title. She also made her debut in the road mile this season and finished third, her first and only loss this season.
She will be gearing up for a busy 2024 season where she will be looking to win her third Olympic title in the 1500m and hopefully also win the 5000m title.
