Kenyan-born American runner Betsy Saina hopes to continue getting inspired by her training mate Joycilline Jepkosgei in future races.
Saina and Jepkosgei will both toe the line at the Chicago Marathon and the former explained how lucky she was to have trained Joyciline Jepkosgei, the 2021 London Marathon champion.
Saina admitted that she has been able to achieve great milestones thanks to Jepkosgei and believes that as she continues to train with the 2021 Berlin Half Marathon champion, she will break more barriers.

Ruth Chepng’etich braces for toughest challenge yet in Chicago Marathon
Ruth Chepng’etich will be aiming for her third Chicago Marathon win and a potential record-breaking performance this Sunday.
The 36-year-old noted that she would be glad if Jepkosgei clocks a personal best time in the streets of Chicago, meaning she will also be in a position to attain her goals.
“I’m so happy because I know when you have someone like her, you know what she has done to get to 2:16 so being with her in a race is always amazing to see what she can do and I’m really happy. I hope she can be able to get another personal best time here,” Saina told Flo Track.
“I’m always happy because she is the reason I ran 2:19 to be honest, because you get to struggle with her, she gets to push me and I get to see her sometimes when we are working out, it’s always good and one of the best feelings. I really want to keep going with her until one day I will be able to run like her.”
On her part, Jepkosgei hopes to have a good outing competing in the streets of Chicago after her London Marathon third-place finish.
After London, she competed at the Condor Executive Antrim Coast Half Marathon where she finished third and she is bracing up for a tough outing in London where she will face off against two-time champion Ruth Chepng’etich.
“I train with Betsy and I hope we shall execute a nice race together and we hope everyone will arrive at the finish line when we are okay and the body will still be strong,” she added.
