Former Kenya Olympian Rose Muya has been honored by Women’s Federation for World Peace Organization for her continued examplary work in sports.
Kenyan athletics legend Rose Tata Muya has been celebrated by the Women’s Federation for World Peace Organization for her exceptional contributions to promoting peace and empowering women through sports.
The former Olympian and national record holder in the 400m hurdles was named a Global Peace Ambassador during the organization’s 34th-anniversary celebrations.

Kenyan sprint sensation Ferdinand Omanyala put up the joint second fastest time of 2024 yet failed to deliver on the biggest stage of them all.
“I’m happy to be honored for this award. It means that what I’ve done for my country, the achievements, are now being recognized. I appreciate this group for acknowledging my efforts in sports, engaging upcoming athletes, and mentoring them,” said Muya during her acceptance speech.
Dr. Susan Kone, the Kenya Chairperson of the Women’s Federation for World Peace Organization, commended Muya’s achievements and commitment to peacebuilding.
“On behalf of the co-founders, the organization is proud to recognize the awardee as a Global Women Peace Ambassador based on her exemplary accomplishments in peacebuilding, sports, women’s empowerment, well-being, and talent nurturing," remarked Dr. Kone.
"Global Women Peace Ambassadors represent the diversity of the human family and stand on the common ground of shared values, committed to reconciliation, overcoming barriers, and building peace,” she added.
A celebrated figure in Kenya’s sporting history, Muya has been a pivotal force in advancing Masters Athletics both nationally and internationally.
As the Secretary-General of Athletics Kenya Masters (AKM), President of East Africa Masters Athletics, and a member of the Africa Non-Stadia Committee, she has played a crucial role in promoting the sport’s growth and recognition.
