Kelvin Kiptum and Noah Lyles are among the five finalists for Men’s World Athlete of the Year.
Reigning marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum and triple World champion Noah Lyles have made it to the five finalists for Men’s World Athlete of the Year, as the countdown to the World Athletics Awards 2023 continues.
Kiptum made it to the list of nominees after winning the London and Chicago Marathon this year. He clocked the second-fastest time at the London Marathon and went ahead to break the world record time at the Chicago Marathon.

Faith Kipyegon has shared a message of gratitude with her fans after making it to the final list of the World Athletics Awards.
Lyles, the American, won the 100m and 200m at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. The two-time World 200m champion is also the world leader and has been undefeated in six finals at 200m.

India’s Neeraj Chopra was also nominated after winning the world title in the javelin and the Asian Games champion. Ryan Crouser is also a finalist courtesy of his exploits at the World Championships where he won the shot put. He is also the world record holder in the discipline.
Mondo Duplantis is also a finalist and he made it to the list of nominees after winning the World Championships over the pole vault and is also the Diamond League champion with a world record.
Meanwhile, the five athletes have achieved sensational performances across a range of athletics disciplines in 2023, winning titles and breaking world records at the World Championships, one-day meeting circuits, Label road races, and other events around the world.

The World Athletes of the Year will be announced on World Athletics’ platforms on December 11, as part of the World Athletics Awards 2023.
