The world 800m bronze medallist is set to face Jemma Reekie and Halimah Nakaayi in a Diamond League showdown ahead of the Paris Olympics.

British superstar Keely Hodgkinson is set to ignite the track at the prestigious London Stadium this Saturday marking a sensational prelude to the upcoming Paris Olympics.

The event, a critical leg of the track and field's Diamond League, promises to showcase a riveting rivalry among some of the world’s elite middle-distance runners.

Hodgkinson, who has never competed in the iconic stadium engineered for the London 2012 Olympics, is stepping into the arena with a robust season best of 1:55.78.

The record sets her apart as the front-runner following her victory in the same race at Hayward Field, Eugene, where she triumphed over her colleague Jemma Reekie who posted a time of 1:57.45.

The competition intensifies with the inclusion of Uganda’s Halimah Nakaayi who brings to the table a personal and season best of 1:57.56.

Nakaayi’s presence adds a layer of international rivalry, setting the stage for a showdown that could hint at the dynamics of the upcoming Olympics.

The world 800m bronze medallist Hodgkinson expressed her anticipation for the race.

“I am really excited to be racing in the London Stadium for the first time in July. I have no doubt it will be an amazing experience to race in front of the huge home crowd, so I cannot wait to have the opportunity to perform on that stage in the summer," she said.

This year Hodgkinson has not only maintained her form but elevated it.

After clinching the 2023 indoor European 800m title in Istanbul she has continued to build on her momentum evident from her recent victories and setting a world best in the 600m indoor.

Her accolades also include a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 World Championships, underscoring her status as a formidable contender in the global arena.

The field also features strong competitors like Georgia Bell, Elena Bellò, Catriona Bisset, and Natoya Goule-Toppin, each bringing their best seasonal performances.

Notably, Laura Muir from Great Britain, with a personal best of 1:56.73, could emerge as a dark horse in this intense competition.

Hodgkinson, Reekie, and Nakaayi are not just competing for a win in London but are setting the tone for their Olympic campaigns. This meet will be more than a test of speed; it will be a battle of wills, strategy, and heart.

The rivalry between Hodgkinson and Reekie has been a captivating narrative in British track circles.

Both athletes have shown exceptional talent and determination, and their head-to-head matchup in London is expected to be a thrilling chapter in their ongoing competition.
