Kenyan’s javelin legend Julius Yego recorded a season's best but was unable to clinch an Olympics medal in his final appearance at the Games following an impressive fifth place finish.
Julius Yego ended his final Olympics with a fifth-place finish in Paris on Thursday.
Looking to bow out in style, the 2016 Olympics sliver medallist started with a throw of 80.29m but improved to 87.72, a new personal best, which put him into medal contention.
However, he saw his rivals record better throws while he could not beat his record of the second attempt.

Julius Yego records season’s best to keep Olympics dream alive
Kenya’s Julius Yego had an impressive throw to seal qualification to the final at the Paris Olympics.
His third throw was 84.90 but he had already done enough o secure a place in the final eight.
After three more attempts, Yego did not beat the 87.72 of the second attempt, bowing out with head held high.
Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan was crowned the new Olympics champion after setting a new Olympics record of 92.97m while India’s Neeraj Chopra, who won gold in Tokyo, settling for silver with a season’s best 89.45m.
