Yego, a former Olympic Games silver medallist, shared on his X (Twitter) handle begging for assistance in his journey to his comeback in the Olympic Games. The Kenyan was once a bright star when it comes to javelin but injuries derailed him and he is just rising from the ashes.
On Wednesday, April 10, the Commonwealth Games champion shared a statement to call on his supporters to fund his trip to France for his fourth Olympic Games appearance.

Julius Yego eyeing Olympic qualification at Kip Keino Classic
Julius Yego has not given up on qualifying for the Olympic Games and he will be making another attempt at the Kip Keino Classic after missing the qualifying mark during the African Games.
“I have struggled to finance my activities for the past seven years. My struggles started in 2017 when my long-time partner, Mizuno exited track and field; and my then-manager couldn’t carry on, due to health matters.
“I have been sponsoring myself since but uncertainties occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic and a series of injuries made it tough,” the statement read in part.

He is now targeting his fourth appearance at the Olympic Games having competed at the 2012 London Olympics, 2016 Rio Olympics, and the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There are two ways of qualifying for the Games, either through the world rankings or whether he throws a distance of 85.50m.
He plans to attempt throwing the distance at the Kip Keino Classic on Saturday, April 20 after missing the mark at the African Games in Accra, Ghana where he bagged a silver medal after throwing 81.74m.
If he misses the distance at the Kip Keino Classic, he will be keen to try at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar.
“My next attempt is at the Kip Keino Classic at Moi Stadium, Kasarani, on April 20. If not, there are the Diamond League meetings with Doha (May 10) top of my list.
