Julien Alfred has penned a heartfelt message after being honoured by the Saint Lucia government following her Paris Olympic Games exploits.
Julien Alfred became the first athlete to win a medal on an Olympic stage, claiming the gold medal in the women’s 100m and beating Sha’Carri Richardson to second place. She extended the hot streak to the 200m, where she claimed the silver medal behind Gabby Thomas.
Following her impressive performance, the world indoor 60m champion received a grand welcome to her home country in Saint Lucia and she has expressed tons of gratitude following the grand reception. She shared a post on her Instagram handle, expressing her emotions and noting that she felt the love and appreciated all her fans for making her feel loved.

Julien Alfred has received numerous honours from Saint Lucia's government, including a renamed highway, a monument, and EC$1 million, following her historic Olympic medal win for the country.
“HAPPY JULIEN ALFRED DAY! The past four days here on island has been nothing short of amazing! I have laughed, cried, danced and celebrated with my fellow Saint Lucians and today we get to end it all on a very special day at the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds. To All, both here and abroad, thank you celebrating me. I will forever be grateful. Saint Lucia will always be in my heart!” Julien Alfred shared.
Meanwhile, in her honour, the government named Friday, September 27, the 'Julien Alfred Day.' It was also noted that the Millennium Highway in Saint Lucia would be renamed the Julien Alfred Highway. A monument would also be constructed in her honour.
Julien Alfred also received EC$1 million (approximately $370, 020) and a piece of land in an area of her choice measuring 10,720 square feet from the government as it was further noted that plans are underway for a Julien Alfred commemorative stamp and a commemorative exercise book featuring photos of the Olympic champion.
