Julien Alfred's coach Edrick Floreal has explained why talent does not matter a lot when it comes to his athletes as he gave reference to the Olympic champion.
Saint Lucia's coast is home to volcanic beaches, reef-diving sites, luxury resorts and fishing villages. Trails in the interior rainforest lead to waterfalls like the 15m-high Toraille, which pours over a cliff into a garden. The capital, Castries, is a popular cruise port.
Alfred said unique culture celebrations are one-of-a-kind. "We celebrate different cultures throughout the year. We have the heritage month of October as well as our independence that we always celebrate. It's a pleasure being there and being loved by many people on the island."
