Julien Alfred has challenged tourists to give priority to Saint Lucia in order to enjoy leisure time and an unforgettable experience in the Island nation.

Saint Lucia is an Eastern Caribbean island nation with a pair of dramatically tapered mountains, the Pitons, on its west coast.

Alfred, who won the first-ever Olympic medal for Saint Lucia after cruising to victory in 100m at the Paris Olympics, maintained that the natural scenery and hospitality are unique in her motherland.

"The landscape.....we have the pitons..my people in Saint Lucia are hospitable. When you come to Saint Lucia, you'll always see that welcome feeling and make you feel like you are home. Being on an Island, there are so many things that you can do," she told Breaking Travel News at World Travel Market London.

The 23-year-old set a national record of 10.72seconds in the final in Paris. Her meteoric rise has made the sprinter a global superstar. She was named Saint Lucia's tourism ambassador after her victory in Paris.

"One thing I would recommend to anyone going to Saint Lucia will be the sofa springs known for detoxifying the skin and making you look 10 years younger. I would recommend many people going there," the 200m silver medalist in Paris observed.

Alfred is the joint North American indoor record holder for the 60m, and was the first woman in NCAA history to break the seven-second barrier over the 60m. Alfred is a three-time individual NCAA Division I champion.

Saint Lucia's coast is home to volcanic beaches, reef-diving sites, luxury resorts and fishing villages. Trails in the interior rainforest lead to waterfalls like the 15m-high Toraille, which pours over a cliff into a garden. The capital, Castries, is a popular cruise port.

Alfred said unique culture celebrations are one-of-a-kind. "We celebrate different cultures throughout the year. We have the heritage month of October as well as our independence that we always celebrate. It's a pleasure being there and being loved by many people on the island."
