Josh Kerr and Laura Muir are among the top athletes nominated for the 4J Scottish Annual Awards to celebrate their remarkable achievements on the track this season.

Kerr, the Olympic 1500m silver medallist has been nominated for the second time in a row after claiming the win last season. The 26-year-old started his season with an impeccable win in the 3000m at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

He continued his winning ways with a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, setting a new British record after finishing behind American Cole Hocker. Josh Kerr continued the hot streak as he proceeded to claim top honours and set a new mile record at the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile.

Meanwhile, Laura Muir was also no exception as she set a new Scottish record in the 1500m at the Paris Olympic Games where she finished fifth. The former Olympic 1500m silver medallist clocked an impressive 3:54.37, competing against a strong field.

Megan Keith also makes the list of nominees, securing a bronze medal in the women’s 10,000m at the European Championships in Rome. Joining Keith in the list of nominees is Scout Adkin who claimed a silver medal at the European Off-Road Running Championships on top of also leading the women’s Great British team to gold.

On her part, Jemma Reekie was also impressive this season, setting a personal best time of 1:55.61 to finish second behind Keely Hodgkinson at the Diamond League Meeting in London and also got to the semifinal of the 800m at the Paris Olympic Games.

As reported by Athletics Weekly, Liz McColgan will also be honoured as the Guest of Honour for the evening as she is also nominated for Performance Coach of the Year.

“I think in many ways it has been a brilliant year for the Scottish pathway. We look at the World Indoors and the Olympics and see examples but there are others across other disciplines, age groups and Para athletics,” she said.

“So many of our top athletes came through that pathway and I think it is really important that we celebrate that and thank all those involved. I am expecting a great night in October and really looking forward to my visit.”
