Olympic 100m hurdles medalists Masai Russell, Cyrena Samba-Mayela, and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn are the latest stars to join Michael Johnson's $100,000 per meet Grand Slam Track league.

Olympic 100m hurdles podium finishes Masai Russell, Cyrena Samba-Mayela and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn have joined Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track league.

Russell won the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games, followed by Samba-Mayela and Camacho-Quinn who finished second and third respectively in the hotly-contested races and they become the second trio of medallists from the Paris Olympics to sign with the track league. The 1500m podium finishers announced were Cole Hocker, Josh Kerr and Yared Nuguse.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn has enjoyed a post-Olympic campaign, winning the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels and she will be racing at Athlos, Alex Ohanian’s women-only event hoping to end her season on a high.

On her part, Masai Russell has struggled to maintain great form after the Olympic Games and will also be in action at Athlos. The Olympic champion will be looking to impress and end her season on a high, renewing her rivalry with the former Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.

Meanwhile, Cyrene Samba-Mayela has enjoyed an amazing run this season, claiming a silver before her home crowd in Paris and will be out to maintain her hot streak next season. At the Diamond League Meeting final, she finished a dismal seventh.

They join the track league as racers and as announced by Johnson, the founder of the league, each category will have four racers and challengers at each meet with each group competing in two events each. As reported by Citius Mag, the winner of the combined results will win the Slam title and a $100,000 prize for that respective weekend of racing.

Elsewhere, Kerr, Hocker, and Nuguse will compete in the short-distance category, which has the 800m and 1500m. Citius Mag further noted that each of the three will contest to move up to any longer distance, which has the 3000m and 5000m.
