Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent has topped the women’s 100m hurdles standings of 2024, surpassing reigning Olympic champion Masai Russell and Diamond League Meeting trophy winner Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.

The Jamaican youngster turned professional earlier this year and has been making headlines with her outstanding times and wins in Diamond League Meetings. She clocked the fastest time this season with a win at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome where she clocked 12.24 seconds for a win.

She made her Diamond League debut after a quite painful exit from the Olympic Games where she could not finish the race despite reaching the final. She raced at the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne, where she finished third before proceeding to triumph over Masai Russell in Silesia.

Ackera Nugent was not done with her exploits with her win at the Boris Hanžeković Memorial and later completed the podium at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

Masai Russell comes second in the standings with a time of 12.25 seconds that she clocked to win the final of the race at the US Olympic trials. She has enjoyed a great season with her Olympic gold medal and completing her season with a third-place finish at the Athlos NYC to walk away with a hefty prize purse.

She has also enjoyed podium finishes in a series of Diamond League Meetings including races in Rome and Zurich and a fourth-place finish in Silesia.

Cyrena Samba-Mayela is third on the standings with 12.31 seconds that she ran to win the European Athletics Championships. She has also enjoyed a great season, winning a silver at the Olympic Games and signing with the Grand Slam Track League.

On her part, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn ended her season with sixth place in the standings. She has had a mixed season, failing to defend her Olympic title and claiming a bronze in Paris. However, she bounced back commandingly with wins at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels and later winning the women’s title at Athlos NYC.
