The three-time Olympic medallist has revealed what he meant when he shared that Elaine Thompson-Herah had relocated to Florida and started training under coach Rana Reider.

Jamaican legend Gregory Haughton has shed light on what he meant by stating that Elaine Thompson-Herah had moved to Florida as she prepares for the 2025 season.

The three-time Olympic medallist shared the news on Friday, suggesting that the five-time Olympic champion was training with the Tumbleweed Track Club in Jacksonville, Florida under coach Rana Reider.

The You Tube video has since been deleted but the potential was mention on his channel, Let’s Talk-With Dr. Greg. After the widespread news, the Jamaican came out to clarify what he meant.

He shared a post on his Facebook page and also shared a video on his You Tube, explaining that Elaine Thompson-Herah has not relocated to Florida but she is just getting treatment for her Achilles injury that tormented her 2024 season.

“On Thursday I posted a video entitled Elaine Thompson Herah has found a new home, which in my mind was very good news,” Haughton said.

“The day before I dropped the video, I received a call stating that Elaine was in Florida getting treatment and she was also a part of a particular training camp, I then made some calls to confirm the first call I got, and it was confirmed multiple times. I even asked two of the sources how sure are you of the info and both said 90% sure which in turn I reported as such.”

He added that after sharing the video, he received a call from Elaine Thompson-Herah’s team and they claimed that some of the information he gave was not true and requested for clarity.

Gregory Haughton revealed that it is true that Elaine Thompson-Herah is getting treated in Florida but has yet to find a new home. However, he still maintained that her management might be in talks with Rana Reider’s camp but revealed that it has yet to be confirmed hence ruling out the fact that the Jamaican sprint queen has found a new coach.

“At the end of the day, I respected the fact the call was made, and I also appreciated the fact that they took the time to listen to what I had to say regarding my intentions behind it all. It must be said that the personnel from Elaine's team stated that the video was not completely accurate and adamantly refuted any claims being made about Elaine having an official new camp,” Gregory Haughton said.

“Yes, Elaine is in Florida getting treatment, yes Elaine may have associates that are associated with the camp in question, but let it be heard here as I set the record straight, Elaine has not found a new home plain and simple.”

This season has been a nightmare for the 32-year-old who only raced twice and was forced to miss the Paris Olympic Games due to the niggling injury. She opened her season with a ninth-place finish at the Prefontaine Classic before also finishing ninth at the USATF New York City Grand Prix.

After the New York City Grand Prix, Elaine Thompson-Herah released a statement noting that she was forced to end her season after her persistent injury and will have to focus on the 2025 season with the hope of bouncing back stronger.
