The Jamaican believes she has all it takes to be crowned Olympic 800m champion as she gears up for a tough battle against Mary Moraa, Keely Hodgkinson, and Co at the Paris Olympic Games.

Natoya Goule-Toppin is beaming with confidence ahead of taking it to th track against some of the greatest 800m runners in the world at the Paris Olympic Games.

The Jamaican ace is looking forward to having a great run at the Olympic Games after having great training sessions in the camp.

Goule-Toppin explained that having achieved a season best time in the build up to the Olympics is a sign that she is on the right track as far as her training is concerned. She exuded confidence and excitement, and is looking forward to represent Jamaica in the best possible way.

The 33-year-old added that the organisers and athletes are looking good and the Caribbean nation might just pull off a surprise in the French capital.

“I’m looking forward to it and I’m feeling confident and I’m feeling happy, knowing that I just achieved a season-best coming into Paris, which is the right time. I’m looking forward to representing Jamaica well,” Goule-Toppin told Nationwide90 FM.

“It went well, everyone did a great job from the organisers and the athletes, they all went out there and did their training and I think we are ready and prepared to do our utmost best in Paris,” she added.

Defending champion Athing Mu will not be in the mix but the race will promise to be one for the books owing to the strong field assembled.

In the women’s 800m, she faces a stern test from reigning world champion Mary Moraa and Olympic Games silver medallist Keely Hodgkinson. Moraa has been joined by upcoming stars Lilian Odira and Vivian Chebet.

Meanwhile, the world 800m bronze medallist, Hodgkinson, will enjoy the company of teen sensation Phoebe Bill who will also be looking to medal at her first Olympic Games, just like her compatriot.

However, Goule-Toppin is not shaken by the tough competition as she believes in her training and abilities as she eyes the top prize.
