The two record breakers will return to Silesia’s Wanda Diamond League opener, aiming to replicate their historic 2024 performances.

Sweden's Mondo Duplantis and Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen are set to return to the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia on April 26, 2025.

The announcement comes as excitement builds for the upcoming season, with both athletes eyeing a continuation of their record-breaking dominance.

The Scandinavian duo delivered unforgettable performances at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Silesia in 2024, rewriting the history books in what was one of the standout moments of the Wanda Diamond League season.

Ingebrigtsen obliterated Daniel Komen's 28-year-old world record in the men's 3000m, clocking a jaw-dropping 7:17.55.

Less than an hour later, Duplantis soared to a new pole vault world record of 6.26m, adding yet another chapter to his unparalleled career.

"The summer was a great one for me, I achieved everything I dreamed of. But this is not the end. I still can and want to set new goals for myself. The chance to achieve them in places such as the Silesian Stadium is a privilege," said Duplantis in an interview with Diamond League portal.

The 2025 meeting in Silesia will serve as the season opener for the two reigning Diamond League champions, who each clinched their fifth Diamond Trophy in September 2024.

With their sights set on further glory, the event marks a pivotal step toward the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo later that year, as well as their bids to defend their series titles.

Ingebrigtsen, fresh off a stellar 2024 campaign, is determined to maintain his dominance across middle and long-distance events.

His stunning response to an Olympic 1500m disappointment by shattering the 3000m world record showcased his resilience and exceptional talent.

"The Wanda Diamond League continues to set the gold standard in track and field, providing us with the opportunity to compete at the highest level," said Ingebrigtsen in a statement.

"I'm excited to return to Silesia, a place that holds great memories, and to kick off what I hope will be another incredible season."

The Wanda Diamond League, an elite series featuring 15 prestigious one-day meetings across four continents, remains a cornerstone of global athletics.

Athletes from 32 disciplines compete for points throughout the season, aiming to qualify for the two-day final in Zurich, where the iconic Diamond Trophy and record prize money of $9.24 million await.
