Noah Lyles has congratulated Grant Holloway following his crowning by USATF as the 2024 Male Athlete of the Year.

Olympics 100m champion Noah Lyles feels Grant Holloway deserved to be named Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field (USATF).

Holloway, alongside triple Olympics champion Gabby Thomas, were crowned the finest US athletes of 2024 by USATF ahead of the gala set to take place in Orlando, Florida on December 7.

Despite missing out on the nomination, Lyles, who won the award in 2023, feels Holloway fully deserved it, lauding him for dominating his event.

"It's about time. Give this man his flowers," Lyles posted while congratulating Holloway.

Holloway was the undisputed king in the hurdles this season, breaking the 60m indoor record at the US Championships before he went on to win gold over the distance at the World Indoor Championships.

He went on to claim Olympics gold in the 110m hurdles at the Paris Games and completed his season with a Diamond League title in Brussels.

"A stellar indoor season that featured an undefeated slate in the 60 hurdles and included a world record 7.27 at the USATF Indoor Championships and a World Athletics Indoor Championships gold made Grant Holloway the early favorite for gold in the 110 hurdles at the Olympic Games," USATF described why Holloway was feted.

"He didn't disappoint as he took the title in Paris by a tenth of a second with a 12.99 clocking. Holloway set his season best of 12.86 in winning the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, and he had six races faster than 13 seconds to go along with four Diamond League wins."
