Thomas joined the trio of Sha'Carri Richardson, TeeTee Terry and Melissa Jefferson to form team USA's winning quartet in the 4x100m relays.

American sprinter Gabby Thomas has opened up about the unique experience of joining forces with her sprint rivals Sha’Carri Richardson, Twanisha “TeeTee” Terry, and Melissa Jefferson to secure Team USA's gold medal in the 4×100m relay at the Paris Olympics.

While Richardson, Terry, and Jefferson regularly train together in Florida, Thomas entered the squad as the outlier.

"It's honestly kind of weird just the way we compete with each other all season and have to come together and be a team," Thomas admitted in season 2 of Netflix's Sprint.

"The other three girls train in Florida, so they already have that chemistry," Thomas explained.

Despite these challenges, the quartet found common ground. "We all came together despite everything and got an Olympic gold medal. I thought it was an incredible display of hard work and trust," Thomas said.

Team USA entered the event with a history of baton exchange errors that had cost them gold in past competitions.

The rainy conditions in Paris only added to the tension, with slick tracks and wet batons threatening another mishap.

The race began with Jefferson on the opening leg, setting a solid pace before handing the baton to Terry.

A slight hesitation during the Terry-to-Thomas exchange caused a moment of concern, with Terry needing to slow down to avoid a failed handover.

Thomas then powered through her leg to regain momentum, passing the baton to Richardson in another near mishap.

Despite trailing slightly at the final exchange, Richardson's electrifying finish sealed the victory for Team USA, delivering an emphatic gold medal performance.

The victory not only showcased individual brilliance but also highlighted the quartert's teamwork under pressure.

The win saw Team USA overcome their recent woes in the 4×100m relays and showcase the quartet's ability to unite despite their individual rivalries for a shared goal of Olympic glory.
