Paralympics champion Hunter Woodhall has shared how he was forced to learn a fresh how to run, before he went on to claim his first Paralympics gold medal.

Paralympics champion Hunter Woodhall has opened up about the struggles he had to endure to achieve success in 2024.

Woodhall won his first Paralympics gold medal at the Paris Games and also added a bronze medal in what was his best season yet on track.

However, the American sprinter had to overcome a number of challenges to do that. Woodhall has shared how he needed to learn how to run afresh after getting new prosthetics in an Olympics year and had little time but belief from those close to him and consistency from himself pushed him to glory.

“2024 wasn’t easy. I came into the year back to square one on the track,” Woodhall shared on Instagram while recapping his 2024 campaign.

“I found myself needing to make all new legs, and relearn how to run. Time was running out before the games and it felt like an impossible dream. If I could describe 2024 in one word it would be consistency.

“Regardless of what the outcome could be, I continued to show up everyday and give my best. The people around me instilled a belief in me. The hardest battles are the sweetest wins,” he added.

It is no wonder Woodhall has been carrying his gold medal everywhere he goes since his triumph in Paris.

The 25-year-old won gold in 400 m T62, his first Paralympics title, and ensured he went home with multiple medals after also bagging bronze in the mixed 4×100 m relay.

Woodhall has formed an unbreakable partnership with his wife Tara Davis-Woodhall, who also won her first Olympics title, having claimed gold in long jump.

The athletics power couple have been pushing each other to great limits and were glad that their persistence paid off in 2024.
