Is NFL star Tyreek Hill faster than Noah Lyles? 3D Simulation shows how a race between the two could go

A simulation has now pitted Tyreek Hill in a race against Noah Lyles after the NFL star sensationally claimed he would beat the 100m Olympic champion in a race.

The question of whether Tyreek Hill, a standout NFL wide receiver, could defeat Olympic 100-meter champion Noah Lyles in a sprint has taken center stage among fans and sparked intense debate.

With speculation swirling about a potential race between the two speedsters, Hill and Lyles have been engaging in a public back-and-forth, with both expressing confidence in their abilities.

The rivalry began when Hill boldly claimed he could beat Lyles in a 50-yard dash, sparking excitement among their fans. Lyles, however, seemed more interested in a serious competition rather than a mere spectacle.

“I mean, if somebody wants to sponsor the event and we’re racing for millions of dollars and it’s on a track and we’re running 100 meters, then sure, we can race,” Lyles told NBC News.

“But it has to be legit. I’m not here to do gimmicks. You’re racing against a guy who has worked his whole life to get the title of ‘the world’s fastest man,’ and you’ve worked to be a great football player. You can’t just jump the line because you’re a great football player.”

This marked Lyles’ most detailed response to Hill’s claims. While Hill seemed eager to race, he remained focused on a shorter distance, specifically no more than 50 yards. “Sign the contract and lock in that 50-yard race,” Hill posted on X (formerly Twitter), sticking to his original challenge.

Earlier, Hill had confidently stated, “I would beat Noah Lyles. I wouldn’t beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles.” His assertion added fuel to the debate, though even Hill acknowledged that the margin of victory would be slim.

The idea of a race between Hill and Lyles has gained momentum, but whether it will materialise remains to be seen. In the meantime, a 3D simulation has already predicted the outcome of such a matchup.

Motion Athlete conducted a simulation of the two in both a 40-yard dash and a 100-meter race, and the results were decisive.

In the 40-yard dash, Hill’s superior start was evident as he exploded off the blocks faster than Lyles. However, by the 35-yard mark, Lyles had caught up, demonstrating his superior top-end speed and ultimately beating Hill.

The 100-meter race was even more one-sided, with Lyles comfortably defeating Hill by a significant margin.

However, in the 200 meters, Hill gave him a little run for his money. Hill has a personal best record is the 20.14 seconds, while Lyles’ is 19.31 seconds. Hill started well, but by the time they hit the curve, Lyles started gaining advantage, and used his great endurance to maintain his speed while Hill was fading out.

While Hill’s speed on the football field is undeniable, competing with the reigning Olympic 100-meter champion over a full race distance appears to be a different challenge altogether. Whether or not this race happens, the simulation paints a clear picture: Lyles, who has dedicated his life to mastering sprinting, is unlikely to be beaten by even the fastest player in the NFL.
