In his first college indoor championships, Goodness Iredia won three medals to dominate the jump events.
Cumberland University freshman, Goodness Iredia, showed his brilliant jumping abilities in his first indoor college championship by winning two Gold medals and one silver medal at the Mid-South Conference Championships.
Iredia won the long jump title leaping to a big Personal Best (PB), School Record (SR, and Meeting Record (MR) of 7.56m which smashed his previous best of 7.26m, to win his first Gold medal of the day.
He then competed in the triple jump soaring to another MR of 15.17m, which secured his second Gold medal.
Finally, in the high jump, with his body already fatigued, Iredia still managed to clear an indoor PB of 2.01m for the silver medal, his third medal on the first day of the championship.
For his outstanding performances at the championship, he was awarded Men's Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year, and Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Iredia moved to the US at the beginning of the year, and in his first-ever indoor meet, he leaped a massive PB of 15.59m breaking the SR, which was the No. 1 mark in the NAIA this season. His performance then earned him the field athlete of the week.
The talented jumper is surely one to keep an eye on for the future.
