Letsile Tebogo can't wait to see how the race between himself and Joseph Fahnbulleh against Americans will turn out at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

Reigning Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo has plans to end his season on a high when he lines up against a strong American contingent in the men’s 200m at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

The world 100m silver medallist, speaking in a pre-race interview ahead of the event noted that he is ready for the challenge, pointing out that he is in the form of his life.

Tebogo added that if all goes well, he would love to attack the course record set by Yohan Blake in 2011. Blake clocked 19.26 seconds to win the race. However, he is not putting himself under pressure to attack the record as he waits to see how the race will turn out.

He referenced the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich where he ran 19.55 seconds despite the poor weather conditions. He added that the stacked field will also push him to the limit.

“I believe, looking at the competition also, the stadium record is possible but I don’t want to put myself under pressure ahead of the race, if it comes, that’s okay. All I can say is that I feel fresh after all the runs I have done and more energised than anything else,” Tebogo said.

Speaking about the 400m, the Motswana sprinter disclosed that he wants to perfect his 100m skills first before deciding to move to a longer distance. Tebogo added that it might happen as soon as after the 2025 World Championships.

“Firstly, I want to get the job done in the 100m and then we can move to the 200m and then maybe after the worlds of 2025, we can focus on the 400m,” he added.

Tebogo and Liberia’s Joseph Fahnbulleh are the only Africans in the field and he disclosed that it will be exciting to see how they perform. The duo will be up against the American charge of world 200m silver medallist Erriyon Knighton, Olympic 100m bronze medallist Fred Kerley, and Kyree King.

Olympic 200m silver medallist Kenny Bednarek and Courtney Lindsey will also be in the mix. Alexander Ogando will also be lining up.

“It’s actually two Africans against the world…it will be interesting to see how two Africans can do against the world. I believe it’s going to be a good race on Saturday. I mean, looking at what I did in Zurich, nobody thought it was possible due to the weather conditions,” he added.
