Julien Alfred, feeling stronger than ever, is preparing for the Miramar Invitational as she plans to shift focus to her core events, the 100m and 200m events.

Reigning Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred will be competing at the Miramar Invitational on Saturday, April 5.

Julien Alfred has been in great shape so far this season, starting with her season opener where she won the 300m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. Alfred proceeded to the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational where she won the 400m indoor race.

The Olympic 200m silver medallist began her outdoor campaign with the 4x400m relay race at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays where she extended her winning streak.

In an interview with Real Talk with Tee, Julien Alfred noted that she is in great shape and is confident of achieving huge milestones this season and continue making history for Saint Lucia one more time.

The 23-year-old expressed confidence in the training she has done with Coach Edrick Floreal, revealing that it has made her strong. She hopes to compete in her final 300m of the season in Miramar before shifting focus to the 100m and 200m fully.

“I’m getting stronger, I mean the way I finished, although my butt was tight, I really feel good and more confident in my strength,” Julien Alfred said.

“We are done the 400m, we still have a 300m to run in Miramar and then we’ll be focusing on my 100m and 200m…I’m excited for that.

“I’m just realising how strong I am and I’m already seeing what I can do and it’s just for me to go out there and trust his training and work and just work on the execution.”

The Saint Lucia sprint sensation has always expressed her love-hate relationship with the 400m and that has not changed much.

Despite splitting an explosive time at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Julien Alfred revealed that she struggled but had to give her all. She added that it has helped make her better in the 200m.

“It’s a 400m, of course, it’s going to hurt but however, you know, my coach and I have been working on strength, trying to get stronger for like the next 20-30 meters of my race,” she revealed.

“There is also the 200m, so I’m really trusting the process, doing the 400m and the 300m and I’m just happy to be healthy.”

As the outdoor season kicks off, Julien Alfred has yet to share her full schedule but fans should be sure to see her compete in a series of Diamond League Meetings in preparation for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Julien Alfred has yet to win a medal in either the 100m or 200m at the World Championships and following her dominant exploits at the Paris Olympic Games, she will be eyeing a podium finish in both events.
