Jamaican runner Natoya Goule-Toppin has expressed regret that she did not meet her idol Rihanna after the pop star shared a wholesome moment with Irish sprinter Rhasidat Adeleke.

Jamaica’s 800m runner Natoya Goule-Toppin was among those in awe at the wholesome moment when music superstar Rihanna confirmed that she is a big fan of Irish sprinter Rhasidat Adeleke.

At her Fenty Fair event in London on Tuesday, Rihanna left Adeleke surprised when she told her that she has been following her sporting journey before they had a big embrace.

“Are you kidding me! I follow you, let’s get happy. Oh my God babe!” Rihanna confirmed to a shocked Adeleke in a clip that has left athletics fans and those of the pop star delighted.

Reacting to the clip, Goule-Toppin congratulated Adeleke for the massive recognition while joking that she was ‘jealous’ since she is one of Rihanna’s biggest fans.

“@rhasidatadeleke I’m jealous. I love Riri. Also love the look dear,” she posted on X.

The two track stars are good friends who follow and support each other in their athletics careers.

Adeleke is reported to be one of the brand ambassadors for Fenty Hair, one of the products under Rihanna’s highly successful beauty empire that has turned her into a billionaire.

The 22-year-old made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics when she became the first Irish athlete to qualify for the final of the women’s 400m, ending up in an impressive fourth position after clocking 49.28 seconds.

Meanwhile, Goule-Toppin did not have such luck at the Paris Olympics where her journey ended at the semi-finals.

Goule-Toppin finished sixth in her semi-final heat in a time of 1:59.14, a race won by Kenya’s Mary Moraa (1:57.86) who went on to win bronze in the final as Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson claimed gold ahead of Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma who settled for silver.

She is set to meet up with Moraa again at the ATHLOS NYC event in New York on September 26, the women’s-Only event that has attracted global superstars such as Faith Kipyegon, Gabby Thomas, Alexis Holmes and Marileidy Paulino among others.
