Josh Kerr declared his Olympic clash against Jakob Ingebritsen as war as he claimed it does not matter how he will win the race.

Josh Kerr is gearing up for 'war' as he takes on Jakob Ingebrigtsen at the Olympic Games scheduled to begin on July 26 and end on August 11.

Ingebrigtsen will line up for the men’s 1500m as the defending champion but Britons have shown him dust in the last two years at the World Championships. He had a bitter loss to Jake Wightman at the 2022 World Championships and proceeded to lose to Kerr at the 2023 event in Budapest, Hungary.

Kerr hopes to maintain the winning streak to the Olympics, and has raced sparingly this season. According to The Mirror, Kerr even turned down a lucrative deal to race at the Diamond League Meeting in London. He decided to work behind the scenes at his American base.

“I am going to war. I don’t care how I win. People might think I only have one way from seeing Budapest but I’ve been doing this a long time, winning in every kind of way. I’d not even started focusing on the 1500m-specific work yet,” Kerr told The Mirror.

Speaking about his rivalry with Ingebrigtsen, the world 1500m champion questioned his character and explained that some things said about him were not okay.

“I’m just being honest. I felt some things were said about me that weren’t right. I don’t want to say too much. It was boring. Yeah, I thought it was boring,” Kerr added.

Kerr and Ingebrigtsen have only clashed once this season, at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene, where the former carried the day with a win and a British record.

Kerr clocked a stunning 3:45.34 to win the mile race ahead of Ingebrigtsen who forced to finish second in 3:45.60. Yared Nuguse completed the podium, stopping the clock at 3:46.22.
